一般情况下，铯以+1离子的形式存在,易与土壤中的粘土矿物结合。因此为了测定土壤中的铯，需将粘土矿物进行消解。铯的测量波长是852.1 nm，在长波长区域,D2法不能对其进行校正，而偏振塞曼法可对其进行校正。

Hitachi High-Technologies Corporation Analysis of Cs in Soil (Electrothermal Method) Analytical value cesium acts as a +1 ion and is strongly retained in soil clay minerals. To measure cesium in soil by atomic absorption method， the clay minerals need to be digested. The measurement wavelength for cesium， 852.1 nm， is in a long wavelength region which cannot be corrected by D2 method， however， it can be corrected by polarized zeeman correction method. The concentration of cesium is measured as a total cesium including its stable isotopes and radioactive isotopes by atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The mixture was heatedover a burner to keep it melted for about 5minutes. After cooling， warm water was addedand then 5 mL of hydrochloric acid was addedto dissolve. The residue was digested with 1 mLof sufluric acid and 5 mL of hydrogen peroxideand then， mixed with the hydrochloricc acidsolution above. The volume was made up to 50mL.
