The watercontent is the biosurfactants can be easily determined by Karl Fischer Volumetric Titrator AQVseries. Reagents Titrant HydranalQ Composite 5 Solvent HydranalQ Methanol dry or common anhydrous methanol ※HydranalQ KF reagents are available from Sigma-Aldrich www.sigma-aldrich.com/hydranal Instruments KF Titrator AQV-2200S (High-end, Color LCD touch screen)AQV-300 (Simple & Compact) Simple and compact! ANEW AQV-2200S (built-in printer, touch panel) AQUA COUNTER Procedure ①Fill the titration cell with dry methanol and remove the water containedin the cell by performing a blank titration. Wait until the potential mVbecomes stable. ②Weigh the total weight of the container involving the sample, funnel, andspatula [S1(g)]. ③Press SAMPLE key,remove the common stopper on the cell lid, attachthe funnel and introduce about 0.2g of the sample with the spatula throughthe funnel.And attach the stopper immediately to close the cell. ④FPress TITRATION key to start a titration. Set “Interval Time” to 30 sec.to determine the end point. ⑤ Weigh the sample container, funnel and spatula accurately [S2(g)] to obtain the amountof the sample injected by subtracting S2 from S1. And then enter the value.
