AER-208活性污泥呼吸仪/有氧/厌氧呼吸仪由控制主机,反应器,多通道Flow Cell组成。在做有氧/厌氧试验时,反应器产生的气体流入Flow Cell,在Flow Cell中形成气泡,这些气泡在流过Flow Cell中的毛细管时,激活红外计数器,气泡的数量被记录在与之相连的计算机中,从而得到气体的实时体积曲线和速率。
美国Challenge公司的Flow Cell,采用专利技术,每个Flow Cell均经过标定,使得每个气泡的体积为标准体积,通常为0.05ml左右。毛细管每秒最多允许通过2-3个气泡,最大速率可达500ml/Hr

Tests were conducted to determine the methane potential remaining in the sludges and to determine if the sludges were suitable for land spreading. Samples of the sludge containing 20.5 and 22.7 g VSS were transferred to respective reaction vessels and methane production was measured over a period of 18 days. Methane production ranged from 120 mL in one sample to 160 in the second sample as shown in the Figure below. The gas production rate was high for only about 2 days and then leveled off to a rate of about 4 mL/day. The COD conversion equivalent of the produced gas was only about 0.3 to 0.4 g per sample, thereby representing VSS conversions of 1.47 and 1.76 %.
