超声波是指频率高于20000Hz的声波。它在媒质中传播能引起媒质分子间的剧烈摩擦和热量耗散,从而产生各种初级和次级的超声波效应,如超声波热效应、化学效应、空化效应及其他物理效应等。由于超声波的“空化”作用可造成反应体系活性的变化,产生足以引发化学反应的瞬时高温高压,形成了局部高能中心,促进化学反应的顺利进行,这是超声波催化化学反应的主要因素。超声波的次级效应如机械震荡、乳化、扩散、击碎等都有利于反应物的全方位充分混合,比一般相转移催化和机械搅拌更为有效的促使反应顺利进行,所以超声波技术也逐渐进入化学实验室,作为一种物理催化手段,使有机药物化学的反应面貌大为改观。
